MRS. ELMER YOUNG

Mrs. Elmer Young, 88, died unexpectedly Wednesday, (August 25, 1982) in a nursing home near Palo Alto, Calif., after a brief illness.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Monday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Hinton United Methodist church. Rev. Dale Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel, Sioux City.

The former Anna Woolworth, Mrs. Young was born at James, Iowa, Feb. 20, 1894. She married Elmer Young in 1923. Mr Young died in July 1962.

She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Legion Auxiliary, Casper Post 477. She was a member of Hinton United Methodist church and the United Methodist Women and the Hinton Senior Citizens. She was a lifelong Hinton resident until moving to California three years ago.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Lois) Smith, Palo Alto, Calif., and Mrs. Larry (Ina Mae) Butler, Bakersfield, Calif.; a son James Young, Hinton; a brother Clarence Woolworth, Hinton; a sister Mrs. John (Hattie) Schalk, Hinton; six grandsons, two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.

Entered Into Eternal Rest
Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1982

HINTON, Iowa—Mrs. Elmer E. Young, 88, of Palo Alto, Calif., formerly of Hinton, died Wednesday in Palo Alto.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hinton United Methodist church. The Rev. Dale Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City.

Mrs. Young, the former Anna N. Woolworth, was born Feb. 20, 1894, in Plymouth County. She married Elmer E. Young Oct. 20, 1923, in Sioux City. He died July 25, 1962, in Sioux City.

Mrs. Young had lived in Hinton all of her life until she moved to Palo Alto three years ago.

She was a member of the Hinton United Methodist church, a 50-year member of Azure Chapter 540, Order of Eastern Star, and a 50-year member of the Hinton American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are a son, James, of Hinton; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Lois) Smith of Palo Alto and Mrs. Lawrence (Ina) Butler of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Clarence Woolworth of Hinton; a sister, Mrs. John (Hattie) Schalk of Hinton; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
