Mrs. M. Janicke
Mrs. Mary Johanna Janicke, 80, who resided at 134 4th avenue, southwest, LeMras passed away at her home today, October 30th. She had been in failing health for the last several years.
Mary Johanna Onken was born September 4, 1881, at Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Henrietta Dircks and John D. Onken. She married William Albert Janicke, December 20, 1906, at LeMars.
When she was 2 ½ years of age the family moved to Plymouth County, Grant township in 1915 and they moved to Lake Crystal, Minnesota, where she lived until 1927 at which time they moved back to a farm in in Plymouth County. She retired to LeMars in February in 1946.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at St. John’s American Lutheran Church LeMars with Rev. L.L. Belk and Rev. Robert Floy officiating. Burial will be in LeMars city cemetery under the direction of the Mauer Funeral Home.
Survivors include the widower, a son, John Janicke of Grover City, Minnesota, and a daughter, Miss Elsie Janicke of LeMars; 3 grandchildren, Darlene, Marvin and Jerry Janicke and one great grandchild.
Two brothers, Onno and Fred Onken, of LeMars, two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Fischer of Cherokee and Mrs. Bertha Schoenrock of LeMars. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Siebens.
Deceased was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
