LAST RITES HELD SATURDAY MORNING FOR EDNA M. GALE

Had Been a Resident Of This Community Nearly All Her Life

Miss Edna M. Gale, a resident of Akron nearly all her life, passed away at the Akron Hospital on Wednesday, May 13, 1942, following a severe illness of several weeks, at the age of 47 years, 5 months, and 4 days.

Edna Mary Gale, was born December 9, 1894, on a farm near Merrill, Iowa. At an early age she moved with her parents to Akron, Iowa, where she attended the St. Joseph's school. A few years after completing her schooling she secured a position as bookkeeper with the C. M. Hilliker & Sons garage, later being employed by the Dirks Motor Co. and at the time of her death was employed by the Dirks Hardware Co. Honorable and upright in all her dealings, of a kind and genial nature, with a keen sense of humor and native wit, she gained a host of friends who valued her for her true worth. All unite in mourning the passing of a good citizen, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to those near and dear.

Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gale, of Akron; three brothers, Lawrence and Earl Gale, of Akron, and sixteen nieces and nephews. She was an aunt of Gerald Gale, of Sioux City, who died at Phoenix, Ariz., after a brief illness, at the early age of 20 years, and who was buried in the Catholic cemetery of Akron on Friday , May 15.

Miss Gale was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors of America, in which she took an active part. She served as treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

The funeral service was held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Father Chas. Ernst officiating.

The pallbearers were Miles Warren, Otto Larsen, Fred Dirks,Alden Pollock,Clifford Metz and James Klemer.

Interment was in St. James cemetery at Le Mars. Wiltgen's of Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Jeager, Mrs. John Dolan, Mrs. Don Breseo and Mrs. Lizzie Goahagan, all of Sioux Fall, S. D.; James and Robert Gale and Jack D.; James and Robert Gale and Jack Goahagan, of Beresford; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goahagan, Blasé Gale and Mr. and Mrs.Ralph Gale and family all of Sioux City.
