SUMMONS COMES TO ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN FRIDAY

Mrs. John Gale Had Been Resident Of County Nearly Seventy-five Years

Mrs. John Gale, a resident of Plymouth county for nearly seventy-five years, passed away at her home in Akron on Friday, November 26, 1948, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 26 days. She had been ailing for four years and seriously ill for the past six months.

Bridgette Dolan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Dolan, was born at Shullsburg, Wisconsin, on January 31, 1864. She came to Plymouth county, Iowa, at the age of ten years. On January 3, 1886, she was united in marriage with John Gale in the Ellendale Catholic church. Mr. and Mrs. Gale have made their home in Akron for the past thirty-seven years,and a host of friends in this community will regret her passing. A woman of kind and lovable character, a devoted wife and mother, and a valued neighbor—to know her was to love her.

Surviving, besides her husband, John, are three sons, Lawrence and Earl, of Akron, and Ralph,of Sioux City, and one daughter, Viola, at home; a brother, Jim Dolan, of Merrill, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, William, who died in infancy, and a daughter Edna, who died in 1942.

The remains were taken to the home of her so, Earl, here Sunday morning, and on Monday at 9:00 a.m., funeral services were held in St. Patrick’s Catholic church, conducted by Rev.Fr. Chas. Ernst, who paid a high tribute to her memory.

The pallbearers were Leonard Lamoureux, Everett Coyle, Darrell Palmer, Henry Eichacker, Ted Burnight and Carl Weidenfeller. Interment was in St. James Catholic cemetery at Le Mars.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family,and especially to the aged husband and daughter, Viola, who have tenderly cared for her during her long illness.

D.; Mr. and Mrs. James Redmond, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Burnight, Francis Goughagan and Blasé Gale, of Sioux City; Jim Gale, Robert Gale, James Andrew, of Beresford, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. John Hoffman, Leo Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Woll, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frerichs, all of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Remer, of California.
