AKRON, Iowa - Anne G. Gabel, 69, of Akron died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa, with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. The body will be cremated following the service Friday. Visitation will begin at noon today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Gabel was born April 13, 1931, in Geddes, S.D., the daughter of Lawrence and Lena Ament.

She married Donald C. Murren in 1948, in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple lived in many different communities in South Dakota. including Sioux Falls, Pierre, Rowena, Parker and Elk Point. They also lived in Wichita, Kan. They later divorced.

She married Don Gabel in 1977. The couple made their home in Hawarden. They divorced in 1984. She moved to Sioux Falls, then Denver. She moved to Akron in June 2000. She was employed part time in a cafeteria and drove a gravel truck for many years for LG Everist Co. in Hawarden.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell Murren of Akron, Lawrence Murren and his wife, Roxie, of Sioux City and Thomas Murren and his wife, Vicki, of Hawarden; a daughter, Mona Murren of Sioux City; two brothers, Alvin and Ed Ament, both of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Lillian Finn of Valley Springs, S.D., and Lucille Garinger of Gillette, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald; an infant daughter, Nancy; a great-granddaughter; and three brothers, Bernard "Buck," Kenneth and Herbert.
