AKRON, Iowa -- Phyllis L. Davis, 82, of Akron passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, with Neil Peck officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Phyllis LaVon Davis was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph I. and Mariam (DeSart) Trotter. She attended school in Lake City. In 1940, she moved to Grand Junction, Iowa. She went to work at the Chew and Chat Cafe, where she met her future husband, Floyd "Hap" Davis. In 1941, she moved to California, while Floyd served in the military. She worked at a cannery. In 1943, she moved back to Grand Junction.

She was united in marriage to Floyd J. Davis on Nov. 9, 1943. Together, they were the parents of four children, Judy, Dick, Kathy and Nancy. In June 1949, they moved to Akron. She worked for the Akron School for many years. Floyd passed away Nov. 9, 1976. She continued to make her home in Akron, most recently at the Ridgewood Apartments.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Women of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework especially knitting and crocheting. She was a member of the embroidery club. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Hoschler Auxiliary in Akron. But most of all, she loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include four children and spouses, Judy and Terry Doyle of Omaha, Dick and Mary Davis of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kathy and Dr. Michael Basque of Lodi, Calif., and Nancy Davis of Omaha; six grandchildren, Jim Hickson, Robert Hickson, Nicole Prescott, Hayes Davis, Sarah Davis and Denver Davis; six great-grandchildren; a half brother, Frank Trotter of Albert Lea, Minn.; and two stepbrothers, Doug Cable of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Duane Cable of Two Harbors, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Floyd.
