LAGRAND CHASE

LaGrand Kenneth Chase of Sioux City, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 18, 1999, at St. Luke’s Medical Center following a brief illness. A prayer service was held at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Friday, August 20, at 7:00 p. m. The funeral services was held on Saturday August 21, at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Hamilton Blvd at 11:00 a. m. with Pastor Phil Cleigh of New Hope Wesleyan Church. After the chapel service the funeral procession proceeded to Logan Park Cemetery where a short gravesite service was held.

Kenneth was born January 1, 1922, in Concord, New Hampshire. He was the son of Major Lewis Chase and Major Frances Chase who served in the Salvation Army. Kenneth married Genevieve Clark September 7, 1943. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the European theater during World War II and later was called out of the reserves to support the Korean War in 1950. Kenneth retired in 1982 after working 38 years at Continental Baking Company in Sioux City, Iowa. Genny later died on October 8, 1982.

Kenneth married Katherine Mulheron on March 28, 1987. Katherine and Kenny attended New Hope Wesleyan Church regularly. Kenneth is survived by Eva Koons (sister) of Trenton, New Jersey; Ernest Chase (brother) of Hawthorne, New Jersey; Francis Simmons (sister) of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; Treasure Hayes (sister) of Atlanta, Georgia. One brother Louis Chase preceded him in death. Kenneth is survived by his wife Katherine of Sioux City. He had two sons, Steven Chase and wife Kathleen of Bothell, Washington; John Chase and wife Joyce of Sioux City; one daughter Cheryl (Chase) Kloster and husband Roger of Jackson, Minnesota; Kenneth is also survived by his two stepsons Paul Grieve and wife Rita of Biloxi, Mississippi; Dan and Debbie Grieve of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; two stepdaughters Ellen and husband Dennis Butler of Sioux City; Vickie and Curt Baker of Sioux City. He has 12 grandchildren. He has 5 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
