DAVID KOUNKEL
David Kounkel, 38, of Jasper, Minnesota, and Plymouth County native died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Trent, South Dakota. David Blaine Kounkel was born September 25, 1961, at Sioux City, the son of Blaine and Carolyn (Larson) Kounkel. He was raised near Hinton and attended Le Mars Community High School graduating in 1980. On July 10, 1981, he married Julie Klein in Vermillion, South Dakota. Following their marriage the couple lived in Vermillion for a short time before moving to Le Mars. In 1990 they moved to a farm near Jasper, Minnesota. David had been employed with John’s Construction in Pipestone, Minnesota, for the past three years. He is lovingly remember by his wife Julie Kounkel of Jasper; five children Sara, Dustin, Brandon, Zachery, Courtney Kounkel all of Jasper; his parents Blaine and Carolyn of Hinton,. Two brothers Jeffery and Troy Kounkel of Merrill; two sisters Jacqueline Davison and her husband Dan of Le Mars; and Molly Kounkel of Hinton. He preceded in death by one sister Lori Kounkel and his grandparents. Funeral services were held at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. Burial in the Jasper City Cemetery, Jasper.
