LOUIS BAACK
Louis Baack, 94, of Hinton died Tuesday, December 21, 1999, at the Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City. Louis John Baack was born November 4, 1905, on the family farm in Liberty Township, rural Merrill, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Bock) Baack. Louis was baptized in 1906 at Perry Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberty Township and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural hinton. He attended country school. Louis was united in marriage to Julia Husman on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1930, in Merrill. In 1930 Louis and Julia made their home in Hinton. He operated a drayline business in Hinton for 20 years, worked at the Farmer’s Elevator, and for several years at Sioux Tools in Sioux City. He had been a bus driver for the Hinton Community Schools for 48 years. He loved the friendships he made with the young people of Hinton. Louis enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Edward Nelson, of Sioux City; Shirley and Lyle Heien of Le Mars; four grandchildren, Scott Nelson and his wife Tammy of Sioux City; Wayne Heien of Le Mars; Bryan Nelson of Des Moines; Kathleen Otten and her husband Delmar of Tea, South Dakota; one great-granddaughter, Kayleen Otten; two step great-grandchildren, Danae and Dustin Otten; a sister Mathilda Nelson of Sioux City; a brother Wallace Baack of Hinton. He preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julia in 1988, and a brother, Paul Baack. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Hinton. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars.
