Le Mars Daily SentinelAnna Mae Reinholdt, 88, of Le Mars, died Monday morning, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars.
Anna Mae Whalen was born March 5, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Maggie (Reeverts) Whalen in Nobles Township, Worthington, Minn. Mae was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. She received her education in Dickens.
Mae was united in marriage to Ben Nelson on June 21, 1953, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They were blessed with a son, Perry.
Ben died and Mae later married Clarence Reinholdt on Jan. 14, 1973. They lived and farmed in the Le Mars area. Clarence died in 1994.
Mae was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars and belonged to the Guild.
Mae enjoyed oil painting, writing songs, writing poetry, and tatting.
Survivors include a son, Perry Nelson, of Le Mars; a step-son, Rod Reinholdt and his wife Jan, of Le Claire; three step-grandsons, Daniel Reinholdt, of Woodridge, Ill., Michael Reinholdt, of Davenport, and Jesse Scheitler, of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Alma Blum, of Fonda; a brother, Melvin Whalen and his wife Lillian, of Dickens; and several nieces and nephews.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maggie (Reeverts) Whalen; husbands Ben Nelson and Clarence Reinholdt; three sisters, Jennie Piscator, Florence Blighton and Bertha Strohman; and a step-son, Steven Reinholdt.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Jan Christensen of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.
