I. D. (Dell) Harkness
I. D. (Dell) Harkness, 91, of Le Mars died Sunday, Dec. 11, 1977, at Plymouth Manor nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Paul Milliken will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Akron under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.
Mr. Harkness was born July 11, 1886, in Akron. He married Mary Ellen Hamilton Nov. 28, 1912, in Union county, S.D. He lived most of his life in the Akron area, where he farmed, and lived in Le Mars since 1966.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Robert of Sioux Falls, S.D., Everett of Le Mars and James of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Orlando (Tina) Harvey Jr., and Mrs. Kendall (Fannie) Talbott, both of Le Mars, and Mrs. David (Gladys) Peterson of Clyde, Kan., a sister, Mrs. Neil (Nellie) Zevenbergen of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends wishing to meet with family may do so between 7 and 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers and three sisters.
