Mrs. Edward Beck
Mrs. Ed (Martha Marie) Beck, 76, 123 First St. SE, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Monday at Sioux City St. Joseph Mercy hospital after a 2-month illness. She had been hospitalized five weeks.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran church with Rev. Lowell Boettcher officiating. Burial will be in the Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of Mauer funeral home. Prayer services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The former Martha Marie Woldt, she was born May 7, 1893, in Lincoln township, Plymouth county, a daughter of the late Paul and Earnestine (Roepke) Woldt. She married Edward Beck January 24, 1911, at Trinity Lutheran church, Lincoln township, rural Hinton. A housewife, she lived most of her life in Lincoln township on a farm before retiring to Le Mars in 1941 where she has resided since. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid and a member of Grace Lutheran church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Beck and Mrs. Clara Cook.
Survivors are her husband, Edward of Le Mars; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Lucile) Waring of Le mars; two sons, Kenneth and Marlin Beck of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Heimgartner and Mrs. Jack Wiltman, both of Le mars; and 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
