Mrs. Anna Martfeld

Longtime Le Mars resident, Mrs. Anna F. Martfeld, 77, died Sunday, April 11, 1976, at Floyd Valley hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at St. John’s American Lutheran church, Le Mars, with Rev. William Striepe and Rev. Arnold Imbrock officiating. Burial will be at Le Mars Memorial cemetery under the direction of Luken Johnson funeral home.

Mrs. Martfeld, the former Anna Freiberg, was born at Zeitlow, Germany, March 17, 1899, to John and Bertha Eggebrecht Freiberg. She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of seven. She married Fred Martfeld, Jan. 26, 1922, in Le Mars. He died Aug. 15, 1972.

Survivors are two sons, Walter and Eddie, both of Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Irene) Winchester, Mrs. Harry (Lucille) Baergand Judy Martfeld, all of Le Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Frieda) Plueger and Mrs. Henry (Rosie) Urban, both fo Le Mars, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Delores, grandson Larry Winchester, five brothers and one sister.
