Note: Her mother's maiden name House.

Mrs. John Snyder died last Wednesday evening, April 20, 1904, at 8 o’clock at her home in Hinton.

The Hinton Gazette in speaking of her death says,

Edith Henrietta Hancer was born near Merrill, Sept. 14, 1880, and lived that place during the greater part of her life. During the past six years she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. D. Winter of Hinton, during which time she had made many friends who are grieved to learn of her seeming, untimely departure, but what is our loss is her gain.

She died a firm believer in God and during her last hours was wholly conscious of all that took place around her. Many times during the day previous to her death she would pray for these who were dear to her and sang songs which had been an inspiration to her own soul. She was an earnest worker in the church and to those who have been so recently associated with her in this work, it seems that she cannot be gone.

She was married August 26, 1903, to John D. Snyder of Hinton. The heart broken husband, an infant son, father, mother, two sisters and a brother are left to mourn the loss. Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock today at the Hinton M. E. church of which deceased was an active member.

Many beautiful floral emblems gave evidence of the true friendship which existed between the departed and those who knew her best.

The pallbearers were Misses Daisy Waters, Mattie Rudd, Jennie Rhoot, Etta Kyriss, Margaret Held, Nellie Waters.

Interment was made in the Merrill cemetery. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the community.
