Elnora T. Kelsey, age 96, of Newell, Iowa, died on October 30, 2013, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell.

Elnora Theresa Klein was born on January 16, 1917, in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Michel and Anna (Gehrens) Klein. Baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, she received her education in the Plymouth County Public Schools and at St. Mary’s in Remsen. Later in life, she attended Samuel’s School of Cosmetology in Sioux City, Iowa. As a professional hair dresser, she operated a beauty salon in Remsen and also in Onawa, Iowa.

On June 14, 1944, Elnora married Dr. W. P. Kelsey of Des Moines, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons, William Patrick and Robert Michael. Before moving to Newell in December of 1949, they resided first in Remsen and then in Onawa.

A member of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, Iowa, Elnora actively participated in the Holy Family Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Little Flower Missionary Society.

In her spare time, Elnora enjoyed gardening and homemaking. She also loved playing cards. In addition, she treasured her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and their wives, W. Patrick and Nan Kelsey and Robert “Bob” and Maureen Kelsey; her grandchildren and their spouses: Patrick and Amanda Kelsey, and their children, Meghan, Kara, and Lauren; Matthew and Laura Kelsey; Kaitlin Kelsey; Liz and Devin Kruse, and their children: Allison and Miles; Mike and Stef Kelsey, and their children, Robbie, Katarina, Reid, and an unborn son due in two weeks; and Nick and Tosha Kelsey, and their son, J.W. Kelsey; and her sisters, Marcy Weber and Kathleen Hansen; as well as extended family members and friends.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Michel and Anna Klein; her husband, Dr. W. P. Kelsey; her sister, Sylva (Al) Roder; her brothers: Martin (Clara), Elmer (Melinda), Jim (Cathleen), Ray (Carmen), Joe (Jean), and Irvin Klein; her brother-in-law, Ed Weber; her brothers- and sisters-in-law: Pauline (Roland) Mosier, Mary Jane (Harry) Petty, and Norma (Dale) Bell; and one granddaughter, Allison Kelsey.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m., November 01, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., November 02, 2013, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, Iowa.
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m., November 01, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: November 02, 2013, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa.
