Grandma Pollock Dead

Last Monday evening there passed peacefully from this realm the soul of Grandma Pollock, at her home northeast of Akron. The radiance of her beautiful life had shown benignantly upon those about her for seventy-six years, six months and twelve days.

Nancy A. Cantwell was born in Richland county, Ohio, on November 30, 1824. She was united in marriage with Robert Pollock, February 8, 1844, this union being blessed with nine children, three of whom died in infancy.

The other six—three sons and three daughters—survive her, whom are H. R. and J. H. Pollock, of Akron; G. W. Pollock, Gault, Mo.; Mesidames L. F. Root and Chas. Wise, of Akron, and Mrs. Armstrong, of Lake View, Iowa.

In 1869 the family moved to Grundy county, Missouri, and, in 1881 came north to Sac County, Iowa. They came to Plymouth county in February, 1884. Her husband died here six years age. Mrs. Pollock united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of seventeen, and the pathway of her life is marked with the true acts and deeds of Christian fortitude, benevolence and charity.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the home of L. F. Root and was attended by a large number of friends. Rev. L. A. McCaffree pronounced a most impressive eulogy. The procession, which wended its way to the Akron cemetery, consisted of nearly fifty vehicles. Deceased was interred beside her husband.
