Mrs. A. L. Bennett Of Hawarden Dies
Was Member of Seney Pioneer FamilyFuneral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Associated church in Hawarden for Mrs. A. L. Bennett, well known resident of Hawarden, who died December 28 after a brief illness. Rev. Clarence W. Hanscom conducted the service. Interment was made in the Akron cemetery. Members of the Eastern Star of Hawarden conducted services at the grave.
Maude Reeves, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Reeves, was born at Seney, Iowa, July 17, 1881, and passed away in Hawarden on December 28, 1943, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 11 days. In 1889, she moved with her parents to Earlville (note--Delaware county), Iowa, and the following year her parents took a homestead in northern Nebraska. In 1892, they returned to Iowa and located on a farm four miles northwest of Akron, where she grew to young womanhood. She graduated from the Akron high shool in 1902. She was united in marriage with A. L. Bennett on September 24, 1903, and lived on a farm four years and then came to Hawarden. Later she lived in Akron for a time.
She was the mother of four children, two dying in infancy. Besides her husband she is survived by two children, Mrs. Marian Schmidt of San Francisco, Calif., and Duane Bennett of Santa Rosa, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Arthur Kubicek of Tama, Iowa, and three grandchildren, Raymond and Jerry Schmidt of San Francisco and Donna Kay Bennett of Santa Rosa.
