ROGER “HAP” REUTER
LE MARS, Iowa—Roger “Hap” Reuter, 77, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 1991, at a hospital in LeMars after a long illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Dale George officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars with a scriptural prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m.
Mr. Reuter was born July 25, 1913, in LeMars, the son of Anton and Anna (Nemmers) Reuter. He attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School in LeMars. He married Dorothy Thiel Oct. 9, 1934. She died in 1937. He married Ione Pashan Oct. 4, 1946. They farmed south of LeMars until moving into town in 1980.
Mr. Reuter was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 1466 of LeMars. He was a cattle buyer and also had worked as a farm representative at First National Bank in LeMars. He was an avid softball and baseball fan, and had played for numerous semi-pro baseball teams in the early 1930s.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Malcolm (Cathy) Klein of Remsen, Mrs. Glenn (Alice) Ruhland of LeMars, and Mrs. Rex (Ruth) Padgett of Oskaloosa; seven sons, Ron of Remsen, Bob, Terry, and Dave, all of LeMars, Doug of Alton, Steven of Hopkins, Minn., and James of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; 28 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Madeline Neubrand of LeMars; and four brothers, Anthony and William, both of LeMars, Joseph “Fritz” of Morgan Hill, Calif., and Melvin “Tim” of Sauk Centre, Minn.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph, and two grandchildren.
