Death of Well Known Resident.
Died, at the family home in Akron, Iowa, Tuesday morning, December 10, 1905, Mrs. U. B. Kenaston, age sixty-four years and eleven months. For several years deceased had been an intense sufferer with what is known as varicose veins.
Hester Haviland was born in eastern Michigan, January 19, 1841, her people moving to Illinois, near Elgin, the same year. She was bereft of her mother in infancy and lived with her grandparents until she was united in marriage with Uriah B. Kenaston on the 20th of December, 1860, at Wayne Illinois. To them were born eleven children their first born dying in infancy. The four sons and six daughters surviving are: Chas W., Mrs. Hattie Ferguson, and Mrs. Minnie Van Zandt, of Hawarden; Wilbur F., Mrs. Daisy Port, Mrs. Mary Kanago, Adelbert, Edward, Mrs. Ethel Neal and Louella, all of whom live in Akron and vicinity.
There are also sixteen grandchildren and she has a brother and two sisters in the state of Washington. The Kenaston family came to Akron twenty two years ago and have resided here continuously since. Mrs. Kenaston united with the Akron M. E. church December 11, 1888, under the pastorate of Rev. P. H. Eighmy. She has been an earnest Christian at all times.
Funeral services were held here Wednesday at 2 p.m., in the Akron M. E. church, conducted by Rev. F. L. Moore, and was very largely attended. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
Mr. Kinaston’s brother and wife arrived Wednesday from Dysart, Iowa, being unable to arrive in time for the funeral by missing connections with a train.

-----------------------------------------------------NOTE: Alternate spelling of the last name is known as KENISTON. Her husband, Uriah B. Kenaston, is buried in Riverside Cemetery, as well. The family stone spells the name KENASTON. The military stone placed for Uriah B. spells his last name as KENISTON. Uriah B. was a Civil War Veteran.
