Harry Petersen, 70, of Warrenville, Illinois, and formerly of Sioux City died on Monday, May 17, 1999, in Warrenville following a short illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church in Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30 to 6:00 p. m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery with military graveside services performed by American Legion Casper Post 477. Harry Petersen was born on January 23, 1919, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Augusta (Liesener) Petersen. He grew up in the Holstein, Iowa, area and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marcella Riediger on October 26, 1958, in Sioux City. After his married he farmed in the Hinton area for many years. While farming he also worked for Wells Fargo. He later worked for St. Luke’s Hospital as a security guard for over 15 years. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1989. Marcella Petersen died October 14, 1995, in Sioux City. Mr. Peterson was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion Casper Post 477 of Hinton Iowa. He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Brackmann and her husband Phillip of Warrenville, Illinois, two brothers;. Thomas Petersen of Holstein, Iowa, Roger Petersen of New Berlin, Wisconsin, a sister Frances Rohlf of Odebolt, Iowa, three grandchildren, Ryne, Julianne, Rachael Brackmann.
