WILLIAM W. BROER
William “Bill” Broer, 54, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Sioux City died Wednesday, December 16, 1998, at a Tucson, Arizona, hospital following a lengthy illness. Services were held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Siouxland Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Mr. Broer was born November 11, 1944, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of William and Mildred (Tiegen) Broer. He moved with his family to Hinton, Iowa, when he was eight years old. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1963. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966. He served with the 155th Division from 1966 to 1969. He then moved to Sioux City and attended Western Iowa Tech Community College. He graduated from Electronics School in May 1971. He married Linda Archer and later married Janet (Wickey) Longwell on July 28, 1985, in Sioux City. He was employed with Electrical Engineering Co. from 1975 to 1985. He owned and operated the Doghouse Tavern from 1978 to 1985 when he moved to Phoenix. He was a member of I. B. E. W. Union Local 231 in Sioux City and Local 640 Electrical Union in Phoenix. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clinton Broer of Turin, Iowa, and Nathan Longwell of Phoenix; three daughters, Teresa and her husband Lyle Butler of Onawa, Iowa, Tammy and her husband Dale Elgert of Merrill, Iowa, and Bobbie Jo Longwell of Phoenix; three brothers, Allen and his wife Maria of Torrance, California, Mel of Sioux City, and Gene and his wife Nancy of Turin; two sisters and their husbands, Gloria and Dennis Julch of Omaha, Nebraska, and Donna and Steve Kaiden of Whitehall, Illinois, and six grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents.
