SERVICES HELD FOR OSBORNE
Regene “Jean” L. Osborne, 49, of Sioux City died Tuesday January 27, 1998, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, following a brief illness. The former Regene Lynette Kounkel was born November 24, 1948, at Le Mars, the daughter of Walter A. and Eunice (Gotto) Kounkel. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1967. She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing where she received R. N. degree in 1970 and than attended Briar Cliff College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1982. She earned a master’s degree in nursing science at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1987. She married Philip Osborne on May 29, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hinton. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids and Sheldon before returning to Sioux City. Mrs. Osborne had been an instructor and was currently serving as president of St. Luke’s College of Nursing. She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and secretary of the Iowa Board of Nursing Examiners. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Tonya Jean Osborne of Graettinger, and Keri Jean Osborne of Sioux City; one brother Terry and his wife Jane Kounkel of Spirit Lake; two sisters Shyril and her husband James Schroeder of Hinton and Judy and her husband Paul Hegstrom of Lawton; one stepbrother Allen and his wife Linda Kurtzhals of Mesa, Arizona; three stepsisters Arlene and her husband Ron Miller of Olathe Kansas, Rose Ann and her husband Fred Haring of Le Mars and Doris and her husband Ed Beitelspacher of Le Mars, her stepmother Ella Kounkel of Le Mars; her parents-in-law Harriet and Merrill Buttrick of Worthington, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; and father –in-law Kenneth Osborne. Funeral services were held Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City with burial at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery rural Hinton. Pall bearers, were Kurt Schroeder, Kraig Schroeder. Scott Schroeder, Brandon Hegstrom, Ryan Hegstrom, Matthew Kounkel, Jon Kounkel, Roger Hudson, Jeff Fredricksen and Michael Hudson. Honorary pallbearers were her nieces.
