Jack P. Hoffmann
Jack P. Hoffmann, 73, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Le Mars, died Friday (Nov. 6, 1987) at Thunderbird Samaritan hospital and Health Center at Phoenix after a lengthy illness.
He was a Plymouth county native and formerly longtime Le Mars businessman.
Funeral was Nov. 9 at St. Jerome's Catholic church at Phoenix with burial in Holy Cross cemetery.
Mr. Hoffman was born Oct. 4, 1914 on a farm west of Merrill to John W and Katherine (Wiltgen) Hoffmann. He graduated in 1932 from St. Joseph's Catholic school in Le Mars. After graduation Mr. Hoffmann worked at Sioux City for a number of years. He married Mary Ann Thoma of Sioux City April 19, 1941, at Sioux City. The couple later moved to Le Mars where Mr. Hoffmann owned and operated Hoffmann Paint Store the former Poeckes Paint Store. In the early 1960s the couple moved to the Phoenix, Ariz., area where Mr. Hoffmann worked as a drapery installer for department stores until his retirement.
Survivors are his wife. Mary Ann, who now makes her home with a daughter at Glendale, Ariz.; two sons Jack J. and William J., both of Phoenix; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Betty) Aguilera of Glendale, Ariz., and Mrs. Mike (Becky) Dellow of Chandler, Ariz., five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Xaveris) Kelley of Akron and Delores Woll of Le Mars, and an aunt, Louise Wiltgen of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Terry and Chuck.
