Shorty Butler, Well Known Former Le Mars Horseman Died Sunday
J. W. (Shorty) Butler, a widely known horseman in Le Mars a generation ago, died Sunday at his home in Stevens, South Dakota,where he had lived in recent years. He had been sick about three months.
Funeral services will beheld at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Christy Funeral Home in Sioux City and burial will be in the Le Mars cemetery. Rev. A. M. Albers will officiate.
Mr. Butler was born in 1865 in Manchester, England, and came to Le Mars at the age of 17, living here for 30 years. He married Fanny Parker July 5, 1892. He moved to McCook Lake, S.D. in 1912 and to Stevens five years ago. He was a member of the Baptist church at Le Mars.
