When the family immigrated, Joe was a child. They settled in Plymouth County. Joe farmed in Plymouth Co. early in the 1900s, when his children were small.

OBITUARY Joseph A. Poradek Died December 20, 1940

Joseph A. Poradek, 59, a resident in and near Sioux City for 55 years, died early Saturday in his home at 407 W. Second street after a brief illness.

Mr. Poradek was born August 22, 1881, in Bohemia. He came to Sioux City when he was four years old and had spent most of his life farming. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Raba of St. Paul; two sons, Robert and Gale, both of Sioux City, and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Vondrak, Mrs. Rose Juzek, Mrs. Frances Bauerly, Mrs. Lillian Brownlee and Mrs. Anna Armstrong, all of Sioux City.

The body is at the O'Toole-Gunn funeral home.

Joseph Poradek Estate Inheritance Tax Report Filed

An estate valued at $16,352 was left by Joseph Poradek, Sioux Cityan who died December 20, a preliminary inheritance tax report filed in district court, shows.

The estate consists of $15,000 in real estate, $352 in bank deposits and postal savings and $1,000 in life insurance. There is a debt of $1,000 against the estate. Heirs include one daughter and two sons.

Two Wills Are Filed in Court for Probate

Wills of Joseph Poradek, Sioux Cityan who died last Friday, and James E. Murphy, who died December 18, have been filed for probate in district court.

The Poradek will provides for a college education for one son and divides the estate among his two sons and one daughter. A trust fund under the supervision of Michael W. Raba of St. Paul is set up for Gayle Poradek to be used for his education at any college or university he may wish to attend. The trust shall terminate when the son becomes 24 years old or when he is 21 years old, if the money is not used for the purpose designated.

A son, Robert, is given property at 205-7 Market street and 1116 W. 19th street. A daughter, Maxine, receives the property at 1120 W. 19th street and Gayle is awarded property at 1118 W. 19th, 407 W. Second and 411 W. Second street. The remainder of the estate is ordered divided equally among the sons and the daughter.

Michael Raba is named executor and R. V. Sager as attorney of the estate. The will was dated last November 2.
