As noted in these columns last week, Mrs. W. W. Ross passed away at the Akron Hospital on Tuesday, January 16, 1951, at the advanced age of 87 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

Myrtle Cleota Taggart was born May 13, 1863, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Leonard Taggart, at Pokagon, Michigan. At the age of three she moved with her parents to settle at Elk Point, S. D., (then Dakota Territory) and her father built the first farmhouse adjacent to that town in those early pioneer days. She grew to young womanhood there, and on November 12, 1887, was united in marriage with Walter W. Ross. Together they farmed for the remainder of his life north of Akron. There were five children born to this union, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Vera Jacobson, of Akron; Guy, of Westfield, Ia.; L. D. and Earl, of Akron, and Theodore (Ted), of Oakland, Calif. In addition, she is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ross was a loyal member of Vesper Chapter, No. 1, Order, of the Eastern Star. Devoted to her family and home, and an ever-helpful and kind neighbor and friend her memory will long be cherished by those among whom she had lived for so many years in this community.

Mrs. Ross suffered a broken hip in May of 1949, and from then was confined to the Akron Hospital, where she gradually lost strength, and where she was cared for by her daughter.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H. Myron Brown. Mrs. Mary Lundberg sung, and the accompanist was Mrs. H. B. Nelson. Members of Vesper Chapter, O. E. S., attended the services in a body.

The pallbearers were Lee S. Shedd, F.F. McElhaney, B. A. Adams, Ernest Lucken, Eugene Lias, and Max Pollock. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
