Mrs. Christy (Esther) Moffatt

Mrs. Christy (Esther) Moffatt, 91, Westfield, died Sunday (Feb. 17, 1985) in the Akron hospital of a brief illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Westfield Congregational church. The Rev. Walter Gowen officiated. Shirley Banks, soloist sang "How Great Thou Art" and "I Don't Know About Tomorrow", accompanied by Sheryl Banks, pianist.

Burial was in Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron. A prayer service was held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Pat James of Le Mars Church of Christ officiating.

Pallbearers were Lyle Moffatt, Richard Moffatt, David Moffatt, Kevin Moffatt, Larry Moffatt, Gary Moffatt, and Greg Moffatt.

Mrs. Moffatt, the former Esther Ann Boyd, was born Sept. 10, 1893, to Volney and Lucy Gibson Boyd, near Akron. She married Christy. Moffatt Feb. 15, 1917, at Westfield. They farmed for 45 years in the Westfield area until his death in 1962. She then moved to Westfield where she lived until the last year and a half when she lived in Le Mars with her daughter.

Survivors include three sons, Allen Moffatt of Westfield, Harold Moffatt of Akron, and Frank Moffatt of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Everett (Lucille) Harkness of Le Mars; one brother, Robin Boyd of Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Christy and three brothers, Roy, Lester and Cecil.
