Glenn T. Wakeman

Glenn T. Wakeman, 93, of Akron died Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at his home after a long illness.

Services were held Friday April 30, 1993 at Wesley United Methodist church in Akron with Rev. Donald Greenough and Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery at Akron, under direction of the Schroeder Funeral home in Akron. Carol Harris, vocalist sang "What A Friend" and "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Renee Banks, Organist.

Pallbearers, were grandchildren; Beth McDonald, Theresa Grutz, Laura Deskin, Kathy Poskevich, Jon Spicer, David Linden, James Linden, Joan Hosier, Kelly Richards, Tim Linden, Peggy: Linden, Mike Miller.

Mr. Wakeman was born 24, 1899, in Chatsworth, the son of George and Dora (Larkin) Wakeman. He lived in Chatsworth, Hinton and Sioux Falls, S.D., before moving to Epworth, N.D. in 1916. He married Muriel Nichols April 25, 1927, in Stanley, N.D. The couple farmed in North Dakota until 1934 when they moved to Union county, S.D. He farmed and worked for the ASCS Government office in Elk Point for more than 25 years. They retired to Akron in 1974. Mr. Wakeman was a member of Wesley United Methodist church, and Woodmen Lodge in Epworth and Chatsworth.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James of Akron; a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Bill Linden of Solon, Iowa; a son-in-law, Gene Miller of Sioux City; two brothers, Walter of Vancouver, Wash., and Gilbert of Akron; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Pearl Ann, Colleen Demaree and Doris C. Miller; a son, Robert Dale Wakeman; three sisters, Pearl, Gladys and Edith; and three brothers, Lloyd, Millard and Lester.

A memorial has been established in his name with Hospice of Siouxland.
