Note: Her mother's maiden name was Mable.

A brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of a well known and most beloved woman of Westfield, Mrs. B. Lilly, who passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, 1940,after an extended sickness, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Carrie Marchant Lilly was born at Rockford, Ill., Sept. 20, 1870, coming to Plymouth county at the age of six years. On November 7, 1892, she was united in marriage with Hardy B. Lilly, at Le mars. Seven children were born to this union.

She leaves to mourn her loss a devoted husband and the following children: Mrs. Jennie Lower of Menlo Park, Calif.; Mrs. Ferne Boyd and Carol Lilly, of Westfield; also a sister, Mrs. Alice Fruechnicht, of St. Joseph, Mo., 11 grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her truly genuine and sympathetic personality.

Mrs. Lilly’s happiness was complete when surrounded by her children and grandchildren in her home. She was a charter member of the Congregational church, the ladies aid, and the Tuesday club and was keenly interested in all serving them most faithful until continued sickness prevented her from doing so.

A life so lived will be a sweet memory to all who were fortunate enough to have known this esteemed woman. To those who are left to mourn her loss we extend sincerest sympathy.

Brief funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the home and the body taken to the Congregational church where Rev. Joseph Steele, pastor emeritus of Mayflower church in Sioux City, officiated. During the service Mrs. Ward Knapp sang two hymns with Mrs. Keith Knapp accompanist. Interment was made in the Akron cemetery.

The pallbearers were Wallace Lilly, Wayne Lilly, Clark, and Vernon Lilly, Christy Moffatt and Albert Harrington.
