David G. Lilly Sr.
David G. Lilly, 82, died Wednesday (October 9, 1985) in the Akron city hospital after a long illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Westfield Congregational church. The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery at Akron under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron. Pallbearers were Fay Boyd, Don Hanson, Kenneth Boyd, Glen Schulz, Earl Schulz and Ray Schulz.
Mr. Lilly was born Dec. 11, 1902, at Westfield, to Hardy and Carrie Marchant Lilly. He graduated from Westfield high school in 1920 and earned a degree in agricultural economics from Iowa State College in Ames in 1925. He married Grace Paramore Sept. 17, 1931, at Hawarden. She died in 1962. He was a lifelong Westfield area farmer. Mr. Lilly served on the school board for many years and was president for two terms. He was a member of Plymouth county extension council, Freedom Lodge 434 AF&AM of Akron and a lifetime member of Westfield Congregational church where he served as deacon, trustee and usher.
Survivors include one son, David and one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Knapp, both of Westfield; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Doris) Schulz of Elk Point, S.D., and Mrs. Robin (Carol) Boyd of Hamilton, Mont.; one brother, Bard of Akron; and two granddaughters, Noelle of Ames and Jill Knapp Dirks of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three sisters.
