Cyrus Knapp died at his home here Monday, June 1, after an illness of eleven days. The very best of medial assistance was employed but it was of no use. Mr. Knapp was sixty-nine years of age and was one of the early settlers here. By hard work and strict economy he acquired a very large farm in Iowa and one in South Dakota.
He leaves a widow and eleven children to mourn their loss. He was a true Christian and was always contributing to any charitable work. He will be mourned and missed by all who knew him.

On Monday, June 1, 1903, Cyrus Knapp, of Hancock township, after an illness of ten days.
This sad news came as a shock to his host of friends. In the death of Mr. Knapp, the whole community feel keenly the loss of a kind and good man. He was generous in donating to charitable institutions and worthy of emulation in honesty and fair dealing. Respected most by those who knew him best. He was a man of sober habits and had a true regard for the rights of others. As an exemplary consistent member of the M. E. church we feel to know that our loss is his gain and that he has left the church militant to join the church triumphant, which is encouraging and consoling. When the friends passed around to look upon the silent form for the last time on earth, many were the unhidden tears that were wiped from the eyes of his sorrowing friends.
Mr. Knapp was born at Harmony, Chautauqua county, New York, in 1834 and moved to Rock County, Wisconsin, in 1853 and from there to Winnebago county, Illinois in 1858.
He was married to Harriet Amelia Palmer, November 17, 1861. To this union there were born seven boys and six girls, of whom eleven are living and were present during the illness and death of their dear parent.
Mr. Knapp came west and settled in Dakota territory in 1866. Through toil and privation he and his loving companion acquired quite a portion of this world's goods.
In 1872 he was elected to the Territorial legislature held at Yankton and served one term. We feel that
A loving one from us has gone
A voice we loved is tilled;
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled
The loan his love had given
And tho the body slumbers here
The is safe in heaven.Akron Register Tribune
