MRS. LEHMAN IS CALLED. Old Resident of Remsen Passes Away After Brief Illness. Was 76 Years old.
Mrs. Doris Lehmann, residing with her daughter, Mrs. Joe Delperdang, north of town, passed away at the Delperdang home early last Saturday morning after an illness of but two days, with pneumonia. Mrs. Lehmann took sick last Wednesday, and death occurred at 2:25 o’clock Saturday morning. She was 76 years of age, and had been a resident of the community for thirty-eight years. The funeral was held Monday afternoon.
Mrs. Lehmann was a native of Schleswig-Holstein, where she was born January 17, 1846. Before her marriage she was Miss Doris Behrend. She lived at her native home until her marriage to Carl Lehmann in 1872, after which the couple came to the United States to seek their fortune, stopping for a short time at Belle Plaine, Iowa, and then coming to settle permanently in Remsen. Mr. Lehmann was a mason and plasterer by trade, and worked at this occupation here until his death, which occurred more than thirty years ago.
After his death the family continued to live here, and after the children all left the maternal home for various parts, Mrs. Lehmann went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joe Delperdang, on the farm near Remsen. Three children preceded her to the grave, one of them William, who is best known in this vicinity, passing away with influenza while in the service of his country during the recent world war. There are four children living: Max Lehmann, Minden, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Delbridge, Sioux City; Mrs. Frank Strong, of California, and Mrs. Jos. N. Delperdang, Remsen. All were present for the funeral Monday excepting Mrs. Strong who was unable to come. Mrs. Lehmann was known as a kind, loving mother and friend to everybody with whom she came in contact, and a staunch Christian. Her sudden death caused the deepest sorrow to the bereaved family, and keenest regrets among her many Remsen friends.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon, Rev. A. H. Juergens, pastor of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church conducting the services. Brief services at the Delperdang home at 1:30 o’clock were followed by church services and burial in the Remsen cemetery. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, February 23, 1922, page 1, column 3.

Note: There is no gravestone for Dora, but she bought lot 4 in Block 1 East in 1913.
Online Familysearch .org lists her death record as February 18, 1922.
In the 1900 U.S. Census, Dora, 52, was living in the town of Remsen with her son, William, 14, and daughter, Emma, 12. She is a widow.
