OBITUARY
In these columns last week brief mention was made of the death of Gustaf Anderson, a well known resident of this city, who passed away at his home here on Wednesday, May 11, 1921, after an extended illness of heart trouble, at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 25 days.
Gustaf Anderson was born in Gastreclan Parish, Sweden, on December 16, 1844, and lived there until he attained young manhood. He was married at that place to Martha Nyberg in 1866. To this union there were born five children--three sons, Olaf, William and Robert, and two daughters, Mrs. Marie Brundeen and Miss Christine Anderson, all of Akron and vicinity. In 1869, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson came to the United States and located in Union county, S. D., where they took a homestead and endured all the privations and hardships of pioneer days. Mr. Anderson's wife died February 9, 1880, and on September 21, 1890, he was married to Miss Marie Erickson, who survives him. In the fall of 1898 he and his family came the farm to Akron, which has remained their home since.
Mr. Anderson united with the Baptist church at Big Springs, S. D., on February 10, 1893. On moving to Akron he joined the Baptist church here and was made a deacon of the church and remained a faithful servangt and member until he was called to his reward. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, a true friend and helpful neighbor and a loyal citizen. To the bereaved family goes out the sympathy of many friends.
Funeral servies, conducted by Rev. W. E. Prewitt in the Baptist church last Friday afternoon were largely attended. LThere were many beautiful floral offerings. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
