Note: Though his obituary spells his wife's maiden name Chapney the daughter Margaret spells it Chapeny so I put both spellings to help family members searching.
William Henry Lyle was born at Smith Falls, Ont., January 18, 1854, died at his home Friday evening, March 12, aged 61 years. He came from Canada to Scott county, Iowa, in the spring of 1877. He came to Plymouth county in the year 1884. He was united in marriage to Miss Daisy Champney March 5, 1902. To this union six children were born who are too young to realize the great loss they have sustained. They have lived in their present home east of town during their married life. He was a man who was truly devoted to his family.
Besides his loving wife and children he leaves seven brothers and three sisters; Amos, George, Ernest and Mrs. A. M. Lyle, of Lyleton, Manitoba; Mrs. Thomas Hall, of Winnipeg; Brownlee, formerly of Kingsley but now of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. John Hall of Kingsley.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Monday afternoon at 1:30 Rev. Joseph Steele, the pastor having charge.
