Note: Many family sources has her name listed as Margaret Ellen but apparently she went by her middle name Ellen.

LAST RITES FOR MRS. E. MONTAGNE

Esteemed Woman Had Been Akron Resident Thirty-six Years

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Mrs. Ellen Montagne at her home in this city on Wednesday evening, August 31, 1939, at 8 o'clock, after an illness of five months, from a complication of ailments, aged 74 years, 5 months and 27 days.

Ellen Collins was born March 3, 1865, at Clinton, Wisconsin. In girlhood she moved with her parents to Jefferson, S. D., where on November 27, 1883, she was united in marriage with Theodore Montagne. Four sons and three daughters came to bless their union. After making their home at jefferson for a time, they later resided at Richland, Oacoma and Beresford, S. D., coming to Akron from th latter place in 1903 and this since remaining the family home.

Mrs. Montagne was preceded in death by her husband on April 23, 1933, and previously by two sons, Raymond and Theodore, Jr.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mae Root and Mrs. Agnes Anderson, and Mrs. Florence Dalgliesh, of Sioux City; two sons, Frank and Arthurs, of Akron; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. T. A. Sheehan and Mrs. James Nooney, of Sioux City, and Mrs. W. I. Dennison, of Jefferson, S. D.

A kind and devoted wife and mother, a helpful and sympathetic neighbor and friend, she was held in high seteem by all who knew her. She will long be revered and remembered for her many kind deeds and cheerful personality, and the community in which she has spent so many years tenders it sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Father Chas. Ernst officiating. There was a large attendance at the servies and local business places closed during the funeral hour as a mark of respect. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.

About seventy-five relatives and friends acame from Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Jefferson, Elk Point and Mitchell, S. D.
