HOLD RITES FOR AKRON RESIDENT

Heart Attack Fatal To Myron Waterbury Sunday, August 5

Briefly mentioned in this paper last week was the death of a widely-known and life-long resident of this vicinity, Myran W. Waterbury, who passed away Sunday evening, August 5, of a heart attack, after an extended illness, aged 52 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Myron W. Waterbury was born in Akron, Ia., Februrry 28, 1910, a son of Frank and Catherine Waterbury. His parents moved to Westfield in His early youth and he attended school there. On November 3, 1934, he was united in marriage with Miss Gertrude Oaks in Akron. They resided in Westfield and Akron all their married life, except three years in Le Mars, Ia.

He operated a tavern in Westfield and Akron for sixteen years, but for some time previous to his final illness he was employed as bookkeeper for the Western Engineering Co., of Harlan, Iowa.

Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Gertrude, and one son, Tom.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, one in infancy and Lt. Arnold Waterbury, who made the supreme sacrifice for his country in July, 1944, in World War II in France.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, last week, in st. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. J. G. Schissel officiating.

Pallbearers were Claude Burris, Fay Smith, Bernard Markus, Loren Thuringer, Al Hawks and Tom Dalton. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Among relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Loren Burris, of Saginaw, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Joy Neal, of Gardena, Calif.; Steve Burke and family of Dell Rapids, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Boyd, of Yankton, s. D.; Alvin Oaks, of Corsics, S. D.; Ray Oaks, of Alcester, S. D., and Don Waterbury, of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
