SIOUX CITY -- Patricia L. "Pat" Oaks, 59, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Church of The Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be the hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Patricia was born Aug. 12, 1949, in Akron, the daughter of Louis and Claire (Bay) Oaks. She graduated from Akron High School and then moved to Omaha and attended computer school. In 1968, she began her career in Sioux City as a computer operator at Postal Finance. In 1983, she worked for Terra Chemical. Since 1986, she had been a promotion analyst for MidAmerican Energy.

She was a member of the Church of The Nativity. Pat enjoyed scrapbooking and anything to do with computers.

She is survived by her mother, Claire Thuringer of Sioux City; a cousin and his wife, Tom and Donna Waterbury of Alton, Iowa; and many other cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Oaks, and stepfather, Loren Thuringer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Weber, Peggy McAndrews, LeAnn Book, Bonnie Monroe and Denise Larson.
