Gertrude I. Waterbury
Gertrude Irene Waterbury, 83, of Akron, Iowa, died Thursday, February 6, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa after a brief illness.
Services were held February 10, 1997 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Akron, Iowa, with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Music was by St. Patrick's Choir accompanied by Mrs. Roger Frerichs on the piano. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.
Casketbearers were Marvin Kroksh, Randy Kroksh, Keith Kroksh, Bob Utesch, Jim Henrich and Tom Martin.
Mrs. Waterbury was born April 26, 1913 near Adaville, Westfleld, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Parker) Oaks. She graduated from Westfleld High School in 1932. She married Myron Waterbury in Akron November 3, 1934. He died August 5, 1962. Gert worked at Myron's Tavern and Bernard's Tap for many years. Gertrude was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1932.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Tom and Donna Waterbury of Columbus, Ohio; one granddaughter, Erin Robley; one grandson, Joel Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron; two brothers, Barney and Louis Oaks; three sisters, Velma Ross, Vivian Oaks and Florence Boyd.
