Mrs. Philip Garvey, a former long time resident of Hinton, died earlyWednesday morning in her home at 4128 Central street at Leeds after a lingering illness of infirmities attributed to old age. She would have been 75 years old March 17.Mrs. Garvey [Ellen J. Shyne] was born March 17, 1857, a t Lindsey, Ontario, Canada. She was married to Philip Garvey in Sioux City, March 26, 1883, and had lived in the community since. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic church and the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary.
Surviving are the widower, three sisters , Mrs. Maggie Dorgan, of Adrian, Minn., Mrs. James Robertson and Miss Tillie Shyne, both of Lindsey;
three sons, Edward, Fred and William ; and a daughter , Mrs. Miles Barrett , all of Sioux City. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in this community who regret the passing of a noble woman.The funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Michael's church in Leeds, the Rev. L. N. Klein, officiating and interment made in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City.
