Jessie Reeves
McAllen, Texas--Jessie (Dolly) Agnes Osborne Reeves, 89, of McAllen, Texas, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Twinbrooke South Nursing Center.
Jessie was born on July 29, 1912, the daughter of George and Agnes (Pech) Osborne. Jessie grew up in Sioux County and Plymouth County, and graduated from LeMars High School in 1930.
Jessie and her late husband, Earnest (sic--Ernest) Reeves, started wintering in the valley in the early 1960's and moved into Winter Haven Park in Pharr, Texas, in 1975. They had no children.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in McAllen and received many plaques and awards from St. Mark Church and two plaques and honors from the The American Bible Society.
Around 1981, the couple started a youth scholarship at St. Mark United Methodist for members or children and grandchildren of St. Mark members. They also had strong ties with The American Bible society which sends Bibles into the Soviet Union.
Survivors include two half-sisters, Lois Mars and Jean Buss, both of Paullina; one half-brother, William Osborne of Montevideo, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earnest (sic--Ernest), on May 22, 2001.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Mark United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jarrel Sharp officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home, McAllen, Texas.
