Death of Edward F. Hughes

The Akron Tribune in speaking of the death of Edward F. Hughes says: This sad event occurred under peculiarly distressing circumstances, his wife and little son being seriously ill with the same malady at the time of his death. The deceased had been ill for several weeks, and until a short time prior to his death he was apparently improving.

Mr. Hughes had lived on a farm in this vicinity for about ten years, and was township clerk of Westfield township two or three terms. He was a man of good character, and esteemed by those who knew him. The family has the sympathy of the entire community.

Surviving are his wife and six children, one a baby about three weeks old; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hughes, of Le mars.

The funeral services were in charge of the Modern Woodmen of America, of which the deceased was a worthy member, and were conducted at the M. E. church this afternoon. The remains were interred in the Akron cemetery.
