Helen M. Lias

Helen M. Lias, 84, of Westfield died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994, at the Akron Care Center after a long illness.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 29, 1994, at the Westfield Congregational church, the Rev. Marty Healy officiating. Music was "Let There Be Peace On Earth" and "In The Garden" sung by Shirley Banks, accompanied by Sheryl Banks. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casketbearers were Don Lias, Norm Lias, Chuck Lingle, Jim Buryanek, Tom Ross, Bud Lias, and Harvey Lias.

Mrs. Lias was born Feb. 24, 1910, In Delaware County, Ind.. the daughter of Harry and Pearl M. (Young) Michael. She married Vemon Lias July 8, 1929, in Elk Point, S.D. He died April 29, 1985. She was a substitute at the Westfield Post Office for 29 years. She also operated the Lias Cafe for five years. She retired several years ago and moved to the Akron Care Center. Mrs. Lias was an avid gardener and fisherman.

Survivors Include a son. Harold of Akron; two granddaughters, Crystal Lee Nedved of San Jose, Calif., and Shelba Lias of Augusta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Lias.
