Mildred J. Dorr, 94, of Wilmette, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 7, 2012.

Family graveside services will be in Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. Expression of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Mildred Jeanette Bogh was born during a snowstorm on February 22, 1918 on the family farm in Fredonia Township, Plymouth County, Iowa to her parents, Christian and Sigrid (Billings) Bogh. She attended country school near her home, but was admitted early to ninth grade in Le Mars High School, from which she graduated in 1934 at the age of 16. She was employed in Le Mars at the law firm of Roseberry & Pitts from 1934 to 1943.

On August 4, 1941, Millie was united in marriage to Robert E. Dorr of Le Mars, with whom she had been going for 5 years. When Bob became a professional Boy Scout Executive in 1943, she and Bob embarked on a journey that took them to Sac City, Dubuque and Council Bluffs in Iowa, and Massachusetts and New Jersey in the East, where Bob was New England Area Director and Director of International Scouting respectively. Throughout Bob’s career, he and Millie always were a team.

Millie moved to be near her son and his family in Illinois shortly after Bob’s death in 1980. There, she devoted herself to her family, especially her two grandchildren.

Millie was active in PEO wherever she went, serving as President more than once of chapters in Iowa, Massachusetts and Illinois. She will always be remembered by family and friends around the country for her thoughtful and caring notes and cards.

Millie is survived by her son, James Dorr, and his wife, Nancy, of Evanston Illinois; her grandchildren Anne (Dorr) Bailey and her husband Charles of Severance, Colorado and Robert Dorr and his wife Justene of Louisville, Colorado; her great grandchildren Emma and Zoe Bailey and Isabella and Cadence Dorr; her brother-in -law Eugene Dorr of Glendale Arizona and her cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Christian and Sigrid (Billings) Bogh, her husband Robert on December 19, 1980, her sister Norma Swain, and her brother Raymond Bogh.
