Richard Frerichs

Richard Frerichs, 86, of Hawarden and formerly of Akron, died Thursday, January 13, 1994 at the Hawarden Hospital after a long illness.

Services were held Saturday, January 15 at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with Rev. William Flemr officiating. Musical selections were "The Lord's Prayer" and "I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say" with Bob Brown as soloist and Carol Harris, pianist. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Akron under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Don Kapfer, Joe Wych, Bob Scroggs, Pete Daale, Rav Jespersen and Peter Kingma.

Mr. Frerichs was born October 15, 1908 in Akron to Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Frerichs. He married Marie Meinen, January 30, 1932 in Emery, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Emery until 1938, when they moved to the Akron area. He worked for Jespersen Oil Company for many years. He then owned the Sinclair Station in Akron for 35 years. He married Dorothy Jensen, July 4, 1967 in EIko, Nevada. He retired and moved to Hawarden in 1974. Mr. Frerichs belonged to the Akron Fire Department and was the fire chief for many years. He loved to fish and bowl.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Hawarden; two sons, Bob and his wife, Sharon, of Akron and Dick and his wife, Becky, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three daughters, Mrs. Lowell (Eleanor) Nail of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Mrs. Ron (Mary Lou) Adamson and Mrs. Marvin (Lori) Neunaber, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Marilyn Erickson of Sioux City, Iowa and one step-sister, Jessie Hendricks of Chatsworth, la.
