Mrs. Harry Johnson departed this life last Friday evening, November 18, 1960, at the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Sioux City, following an illness of long duration. She was 53 years, 3 months and 4 days of age.

Emma Eva Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barth Miller, was born at Akron, Plymouth county Iowa, August 14,1907. During infancy she was baptized at the St. John's Lutheran church of Akron and while she was attending High school in Le Mars she was confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran church in Le Mars. On March 31, 1926, she was married to Harry Johnson at a wedding service in Sioux City, Iowa. Since that time they lived in the Akron community and during the last several years lived northwest of Akron in Union County, 'South Dakota. In June of 1930, they became members of the Immanuel Lutheran church. To the full extent that her health permitted she was active not only in the church but. also in the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies' Aid and more recently in the Immanuel A.L.C.W. She was during 1960 a member of the Dorcas Unit.

Having known sorrow and suffering herself, she showed a particular interest in others who were sick or in pain. When she was herself seriously ill during these last few weeks, she inquired concerning others who were in the hospital or ill at home.

She was preceded, in death by her father in 1946, by her daughter, Shirley, in-1951 and by her son, Gordon, in 1952.

Those Who survive to mourn her departure include her husband, Harry; her son Darwin; her mother, Mrs. Clara Miller; ,her brother, Leonard, of San Diego; California; her three sisters, Mrs. Alma Milbrodt, Mrs. Christine Morehead and Mrs. Mildred Johnson; three grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran church, Rev. David J. Roy officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Arnold Clark, Mrs. Kenneth Peters and Mrs. Stuart Harris. Mrs. Henning Shoulberg was organist. Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased, Dennis Johnson, Norman Morehead, Glen Milbrodt, Marlin Johnson, Virgil: Morehead and Wayne Milbrodt. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
