Floyd W. Fletcher

Floyd W. Fletcher, 72, Akron, died Tuesday (April 5, 1983) in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 in the First Baptist church in Akron. The Rev. Burl Ratzsch officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron, under direction of the Schroeder funeral home. A prayer service was held Thursday evening at the funeral home. Organist was Mrs. Elmer Fickbohm, and pianist was Mildred Klemme. Soloist was Tim Kelley who sang "For Those Tears I Died" and "Because He Lives".

Honorary pallbearers were Porter Maynard, LoVay Lamoureux, George King, Donald Brasseau, Hubert Cory and Clarence Bennett. Active pallbearers were Robert Fletcher, Dennis Fletcher, Roger Fletcher, Lawrence Johnson, Richard Batlinger and Reynold Ballinger.

Mr. Fletcher was born Nov. 21, 1910 at Chatsworth, Iowa. He married Thelma Ballinger Sept. 30, 1933, at Elk Point, S.D. They farmed in the Akron area for many years. He worked for the Akron public schools from 1963 until 1973 as custodian and school bus driver. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Elk Point for many years and served on the Sayles school board near Akron for many years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Sue Croy of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Curtis (Lora) Johnson of Flandreau, S.D.; four brothers, Edgar and Roland, both of Des Plaines, El., Darcy and Elmo, both of Akron and seven grandchildren.
