Rites For Esteemed Union County Woman Held Here Monday
Mrs. Herman M. Ahrens, residing northwest of here in Union county, S. D., passed away last Friday, November 20, at the Hawarden Hospital, where she had been a patient after suffering a stroke November 8, aged 71 years, 5 months and 11 days.
Adeline Margaretha Jacobs, daughter of Frederick and Christina Jacobs, was born June 2, 1888, in Whiteside County, Illinois. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Lynden, Ill., Sept. 2, 1888, and received her education in the schools there. She was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, during the pastorate of Rev. Fred A. Meske, on April 4, 1909. She was united in marriage here with Herman M. Ahrens on January 10, 1912, and they farmed in this area for nearly 48 years. One son, Francis Gerhard, was born to them, and he preceded his mother in death.
Mrs. Ahrens was held in high esteem by her many friends who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. She was a member of Trinity Ladies' Aid.
Surviving are her husband, Herman; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Hall, of Morrison, III., and Mrs. Harry Etenburn, of Lynden, Ill.; two brothers, Lewis Jacobs, of Lynden, and William Jacobs, of Morrison, Ill., and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. Luther A. Meyer officiating. Marilyn Johnson and Carole Lehmann were vocalists. Pallbearers were Andrew Bredall, Eddie Anderson, Ross Root, Albert Beeck, Arnold Shedd and Earner Anderson. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

D.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eden, Huron, S. D.
