Arthur T. Ahrens

Arthur T. Ahrens, 91, of Alcester died Wednesday, March 23, 1994, at Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester after a brief illness.

Services were held Friday, March 25 at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron with Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Marietta Nielsen was organist with congregational singing. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages," "In The Garden," "Abide With Me," and "Lift High The Cross." Casket bearers were Ray Wennblom, Harold Kleihauer, Delmer Kleihauer, Harlan Kleihauer, Gordon Kleihauer and George Hitzemann. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Ahrens was born April 14, 1903, in Plymouth County, rural Akron, the son of Gerhard and Ida (Eden) Ahrens. He was a lifelong farmer and mechanic in the Akron area. He retired in 1968 and moved to an acreage near Alcester. He entered the nursing home in September 1991.

Survivors include a sister, Hattie Kurle of Java, S.D.; five nieces, Mildred Laudenschlager of Fremont, Neb., Ida Muth of Hawarden, Iowa, Velma Croon of Alcester, Mrs. LeRoy (Hilda) Bender of Java, S.D., and Mrs. Marjorie Willms of Sheldon, Iowa; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Herman; and three sisters, Adele Willms and Olga and Mary Ahrens.
