John Behrens

John Behrens, 90, 3201 Stone Park Blvd., Sioux City, a retired Woodbury and Plymouth county farmer, died Saturday morning (Aug. 17. 1974) at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Behrens was born June 28, 1864, in Germany. He came to Anthon with his parents in 1891. He married May L. Malcom Feb. 6, 1912, at Sioux City. They farmed in Woodbury and Plymouth counties until their retirement in 1960 when they moved to Sioux City. She died July 20,1966 in Sioux City.

Survivors are six sons, Gordon of Nampa, Idaho, Norvin of Phoenix, Ariz., Ted of Spokane, Wash., and Byrl, Loren and Malcom, all of Sioux City; five daughters, Mrs. Charles (Carol) Palmer of Worland, Wyo., Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Nason. Mrs. Wurth (Lenore) Banks and Mrs. John (Annabelle) Banks, all of Westfield, and Mrs. Omer (Janice) Nason of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also 37 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; two brothers, August of Healdsburg, Calif. and Herman of Sioux City, and a sister, Mrs. Esther Kletecka of Los Angeles, Calif..

Services were at 3 p.m. Monday at the W. Harry Christy funeral home, 711 Myrtle St., with Rev. James R. Bjorge of Morningside Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in Memorial park cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jay Kerry and Randall Behrens, Thomas Nason and Jules and Ivan Banks.
