Stanley Mohning, 90, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars.

Stanley William Henry Mohning was born Nov. 19, 1921, on the family farm in Marion Township, rural Plymouth County, the son of William and Rose (Bruns) Mohning. Stan was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen. He attended country school in Marion Township. Following his schooling, he began farming.

He was united in marriage to Blanche Petersen on Aug. 23, 1944 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens. They farmed for many years near Oyens. Following their retirement, they continued to live on the farm.

In 2008, they moved to Prime Living in Le Mars. In May 2011, he became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars.

Stan was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars.

Through the years, Stan enjoyed woodworking, hunting, ballroom dancing, and later on, golfing with his friends. But most of all, he loved the times spent with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of more than 68 years, Blanche of Le Mars; his children: Barb Johnson (Mike) of Spencer, Gail Ancelin (Gerard) of Aurora, Colo., and Dean Mohning (Linda) of Remsen; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Donald Mohning; and his sister: Nora Kohler.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Greg Gabriel will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
